Frequently Asked Questions
Who can go to art therapy?
Art therapy is for children, adolescents, adults, older adults, groups and families. Art therapy is an established mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of people at all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behaviour, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness and achieve insight.
Do I need to have art skills?
No art skills are required, you are invited to use the art materials in a way that feels comfortable to you, and you can ask me for help on how to use the materials at any time. I don't interpret your artwork, we will explore this together.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. Although your GP may recommend me to you, you do not require a written referral.
Do I have to pay to obtain the free intake consultation?
You can book a free 15 min phone consultation for your first appointment. If you feel comfortable you can move on to make your next appointment.
